About the YVRTA
The Yampa Valley Regional Transportation Authority is a new public agency created in November 2025, when voters across the Yampa Valley approved its formation. Our partner communities include the City of Steamboat Springs, the City of Craig, the towns of Hayden, Oak Creek, & Yampa, and unincorporated Routt County.
Mission
The YVRTA, a collaboration between Routt County and the municipalities of Steamboat Springs, Craig, Hayden, Oak Creek and Yampa, plans, funds, and operates regional transportation that expands opportunity, sustains our workforce, protects our environment, and honors the character of every community across the Yampa Valley.
Our Values
Every community has an equal voice. All member communities have one vote.
Trust is earned through transparency. Public dollars, public decisions, public reporting.
Riders come first. We plan around real people's real trips, not lines on a map.
Regional identity, local respect. Craig is not Steamboat Springs. Yampa is not Hayden. Our work honors that.
Ready before we roll. We won't overpromise. Buses aren't running January 1 — and we'll tell you honestly when they will.
Purpose
To connect the Yampa Valley — through reliable, affordable, year-round transportation that reflects the needs of every community we serve.
Vision
A Yampa Valley where no one — worker, student, senior, parent, or neighbor — is limited by how far apart our communities feel.
